The Chenin Blanc grapes are mostly from Kalmoesfontein, a farm situated on the northern side of the Paardeberg mountain. A neighbour also supplies them with some exceptional old vine fruit – making them the world’s smallest co-op! They maintain that high quality fruit comes from old un-irrigated bush-vines grown on a variety of granite soils that are naturally low yielding. Most of the Chenin vines were planted the 1960’s and tend to yield around 4 tons/hectare. Adi Badenhorst is an award-winning South African winemaker who is well known for producing iconic wines with immense character. This is a simply outstanding wine from the Badenhorst winery and won’t fail to impress. Complex and beautifully textured with exotic fruit flavours such as quince and pineapple which linger on the palate.
