Our traditional choice of cultivars remains the same for our 2017 blend, but with Syrah still ruling the blend, the spicy, peppery profile is again accentuated. With Mourvèdre from the Swartland lending austerity, a red fruit character and body and the dash of Viognier contributing perfume, this classic Rhône style blend again over delivers at price point.
The nose entices with its abundance of ripe plums, blueberries, slight spiciness and heady whiffs of violets. Dark berry fruit, liquorice and notes of sweet tobacco and cocoa follow through onto a vibrant mid-palate with bright, svelte tannins and a silky texture. The wine shows exceptional balance with fresh, integrated acidity. Red plums, black olives and lavender linger on a mouthwatering finish.
