Produced from 30-year-old, estate vines. The small 12 acre vineyard sits with a southwest exposure on well- draining sandy loam and granite soils. Grapes are hand selected and sorted both in the vineyard and at the winery. Fermentation and aging occur in stainless steel tanks with some gentle lees aging for 3 months. Malolactic fermentation is held at 30% Vinbrant lime and grapefruit aromas, with chalky mineral overtones and floral qualities. Clean incisive flavors of high-pitched citrus and orchard fruit give way to richer melon and white peach. A mineral driven finish leaves a citrus zest quality behind. Lagar de Costa is a family run winery where the effort and commitment of three generations dedicated to the care and production of Albariño serves as their foundation. The winery was built over a century ago and it has undergone several refurbishments, though the old stone structure and original building wood has been preserved. The Costa family has direct control over all processes, both in the vineyards and at the winery, where state of the art technology and roots in tradition meet. The result is wine that expresses the unique characteristics of this special grape and terroir.
